I really, really, really want to write a YA novel, but I’m overwhelmed at the thought of it. When I was a YA, The Outsiders was practically my Bible. It was somewhere in between Anne of Green Gables and Marguerite Duras’ The Lover. I have some ideas, but of course, since I’m me, they might be JUST A LITTLE too adult to really fly as YA. Still, it would be nice to write that novel that helps some kid get through middle and high school.
I woke up this morning and felt grateful for the wonderful weather. Nice weather is still free, thank heavens. Not much else is. What are you grateful for?
I thought I’d better get a little professional and start posting / blogging about my “career”. Why not, right?
THE PAPER SWAN appears to be the 10-minute play gift that keeps on giving. It was recently produced at the Towne Street Theatre in Hollywood, CA and was voted 2nd Audience Favorite. It will be produced twice in the next few months; I wish that I could travel as much as this play has! New York, LA, Montana, Canada…it’s a pretty impressive tour. Here’s the info on upcoming productions:
2012 FVCC 10 Minute Play Festival
Performance dates are April 27-28 And May 4-5.
77 Grandview Drive
Kalispell, MT 59901
Yes, the FVCC Theatre is in Montana! Flathead Valley Community College – you should go there if you’re looking for a good community college and you want to be in Montana. The COOOL thing about this college is that they pay their playwrights! You got it folks – THE PAPER SWAN has earned me $75 big ones! I almost cried when I realized – really.
Later, in June, THE PAPER SWAN will be flying up to Toronto. I actually love Canada.
InspiraTO Festival / 7th Annual Toronto 10 Minute Play Festival
“The InspiraTO Festival, Canada’s largest ten-minute play festival, was launched in 2006 at the intimate Alchemy Theatre in Toronto. The festival founder and Artistic Director, Dominik Loncar, wanted to see if one could create quality theatre using the ten-minute play format. The response by audiences was overwhelming. What started off as a weekend trial run mushroomed into a festival that receives over 300 ten-minute play submissions annually with over 80 participating theatre artists.”
Alumnae Theatre, Toronto, CANADA
Performances are the first two weekends in June. (Right around my birthday!)
