IndieGogo Campaign for Drama of Works production of WATER

Hello friends,

Drama of Works, a lovely Brooklyn-based puppet theater company, is producing my children’s show WATER next month at the Old Stone House in Brooklyn. WATER tells the story of Sela and her friend Bo on their journey to and from the far away well to get water for Sela’s ailing mother. Through storytelling, drama, music, and puppetry, this free and family-friendly show illustrates a crucial problem in many parts of the world. At the performances we accept donations and donate them to a water organization. Any little contribution is appreciated.

Drama of Works NEEDS YOU!

Drama of Works has launched an indiegogo campaign to help us raise funds this summer.

We need your help to put up a WORLD PREMIERE play and raise funds for a water resource charity. And we need your help to represent you at the Wayang World Puppet Carnival in Indonesia!!!  VISIT THE PAGE TO CONTRIBUTE NOW – OR READ ON TO HEAR MORE ABOUT IT!

PUPPET SCHOOL: we’re re-launching! Let us know if you’re interested in a shadow puppetry workshop!

What is DOW’s summer 2013…?!?

Drama of Works is a multidisplinary theater company formed in 1999 and working out of Brooklyn, NY. We have created over a dozen full-length shows in a variety of styles, collaborated with countless artists, and have performed in over five countries!
This summer we’re working on two pieces: WATER, a world premiere play for all ages by Amina Henry, to be performed free to the public at Old Stone House in Brooklyn, NY; and Sleepy Hollow, a large-scale shadow show, which we are pulling out of repertory to perform at the World Puppet Carnival in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The impact of your donation…

By giving to this campaign you will be helping us put up a world premiere play, in order to raise funds for a water resource charity. We will be collecting donations for charity at the WATER performances and charging no entrance fees, so your contribution here makes a tangible difference to our production costs!
You are also helping us exchange culturally with artists in Indonesia, show our work to an international audience and gain status in the puppetry world. The World Puppet Carnival is a competition festival, and we want to bring our A game! Help us represent the U.S. and Brooklyn – this September!

What will we do with your donation…

– WATER is employing one playwright, three actors, one stage manager, one designer, one director and one musician. We feel strongly about compensating our artists fairly.
– WATER will also need rehearsal space, postcards for marketing purposes and supplies for the beautiful puppets our designer will be making.
Because we are not taking entrance fees at the WATER performances (only donations for water resource charities), your donation here and now must make up for this 100%!
– The World Puppet Carnival does not pay for transportation. And plane tickets to Jakarta are not cheap. Some of your donation will help make up for this!

Those fun perks…

– All donors will of course be shouted-out on our Facebook page!
– A frame-worthy print of the WATER poster image (by Skye Worthington-Bunn) signed by the cast and collaborators or a Sleepy Hollow poster signed by the cast and collaborators!
– We are known for our awesome shadow puppetry workshops- join us at a discounted price or for free if you give!
– This September we will be presenting our next PUNCH: Kamikaze at Dixon Place. Two tickets to the best puppet slam in town!
– If you give real big we’ll make a personalized photo album or video for you during the WATERexperience and while in Jakarta!
When in Jakarta we might have some custom things made for donors as well…!

OTHER WAYS TO HELP!

We know not everyone has the ability to give. That doesn’t mean you can’t help us out…
– Pass this campaign on to other people you think might be interested.
– Talk about us and the campaign on Facebook and other social media.
– Come see WATER at Old Stone House – details to come!
– Come see our invited dress of Sleepy Hollow – details also to come for that!

NO MATTER WHAT…THANK YOU!!!
