Table Theater, founded by playwright moi, is presenting a new play about gender, sexuality and the American Dream: it’s called Ducklings.
Ducklings tells the story of four finalists competing for the Dance Hall Queen of Pittsburgh title. Led by entrepreneurial hustler Spider, Ducklings explores the complexity of gender and sexuality within an American capitalist system. Is ‘twerking’, or some other version of female sexuality as spectacle, empowering to women, or degrading? Is the American Dream accessible to everyone?
The workshop reading of Ducklings will take place at:
NATIONAL BLACK THEATER
2031 5th Ave, New York, NY
JANUARY 12, 2015, 8 pm
Direction by Christopher Burris
Choreography by Joya Powell
and more TBA
